Library at the school

We are back after our successful donation campaign in 2018! This time, again, we are reaching out to Shri Saaluruswamy Krupa High School, a school close to the Karnataka - Tamil Nadu border in the MM Hills range. The school is located in a very remote area with limited or no access to facilities that we take for granted in cities.

For the upcoming academic year (2019-2020), we are planning to gift a library to the students at Shri Saaluruswamy Krupa High School which has about 80 students. The school has also agreed to share these books with the other school surrounding them.

Below is a list of books they would need. You may buy the books and send it directly (Arun, #66, 2nd A cross, 6th main road, 4th cross road, Gaurav Nagar, JP nagar 7th phase, Bangalore, Karnataka 560078) or donate old books which might be suitable for the library (need not be just the ones mentioned below) or donate cash to buy these books.

The list below are the books requested by the faculty team at the school, you are most welcome to give any book which might seem appropriate for a school library. We are also planning to get most of the books from NBT (https://www.nbtindia.gov.in/), since they seem more appropriate for the given age group. The estimated cost is around 40,000 Rupees. This donation campaign will be open until we fulfil the required number of books. Apart from these donations, if you are willing to spend time with the students and help them learn something new, you are most welcome.

Gifting computers to school

Maharaja Institute of Technology (MIT), Mysuru, helped Gopinatam Govt. Higher Primary school (close to Mahadeshwara temple) with 3 desktop in 2015. The 3 desktops were presented to the school on their request for computers for the students.

On July 28th, 2018, a group of enthusiasts reached more than 300 students from 5 different schools with note books, stationary and text books. These schools are located in the remote areas of MM Hills Range close to Karanataka-Tamil Nadu border. Lessons are taught in Kannada, and unfortunately, drop out rates are very high.

Recently, we were pleased to find out that these schools achieved 100% result in the 2018-19 SSLC examinations. A big and hearty congratulations to the teachers and students on this great milestone! This also made our efforts much more meaningful. Probably, this is the right time to thank all those who helped financially and in managing the entire initiative.
